Green Expansion Joints

Expansion joints are intentional seams left in concrete pavement to allow for the natural movement of the ground and thermal expansion/contraction of the pavement materials.

Not sealing expansion joints leaves the joints open to infiltration of water (ice wedging) and incompressible debris. This will lead to spalling, deterioration, cracking, and deeper penetration of water, which can damage the substrate.
